Burton on Trent three piece Theia are a band we’ve followed the rise of since the release of their very first EP back in 2013. They have worked tirelessly producing and perfecting their sound over the past few years, and now find themselves riding the the crest of the new wave of classic rock talent.
It goes with out saying that Theia consist of 3 very young and talented musicians, Kyle Lamley (guitar & vocals), Paul Edwards (bass & vocals) and Jake Dalton (drums). With every release and live performance this band just gets better and better, maturing way beyond their years. Not only are their creative talents flowing in the studio, but they can perform live too. There appears to be no end this band’s talent.
On July 13th 2018 the band released their 3rd studio album ‘The Ghost Light’ via independent label WDFD Records, this follows on from last years impressive album ‘Back In Line’ which also received much critical acclaim.
The single ‘Throw Me A Bone’ was an early teaser of the albums content, with political satire as the theme throughout the music video and instantly catchy lyrics to boot. The single however, is merely the tip of the iceberg. With its hard rocking anthems, delectable rhythm and superb lyrics performed with gusto by the enticing vocals of Kyle Lamley there isn’t a track on the album that feels out of place. Right from its heavy rocking opening track ‘What You Want’ you are taken on a musical journey throughout this album, with the bluesy sounding ‘The Revelator’, groovy rockin’ ‘Dirty Livin’’, anthemic ‘Bring It Down’ and almost grunge tinged title track ’The Ghost Light’, its hard to believe that such a depth of musical styles comes from only a trio of young musicians. Many bands still can't achieve this after years of experience.
This album appears to be the pinnacle of their career so far, more mature than the previous albums, superbly produced and throughly enjoyable to listen to. Could this album be to Theia what ‘Slippery When Wet’ is to Bon Jovi? That break through masterpiece 3rd album?! It definitely comes highly recommended from us, a must for all fans of the new wave of British rock.
